The prescience of my Notes App
Sometimes, when I need inspiration or a title for a new book or program, I go back through my old notebooks or my Notes App. This program title came from a note I wrote in my Notes App in 2018 -
I remember that I had woken with the two cards fresh in my mind from a dream, and jotted them down to look up later and see their meanings. Another note says this:
Hermit
Meditation
Inside wisdom
Stillness
Rest
Moon
Shadow work
Intuition
Dreams
Darkness
When I found these notes, I knew I had found the name and themes of my winter program. What I need most in the winter is a combination of these beautiful archetypical themes; rest, wisdom, stillness, and connection.
And it is such a gift to go back in time and get these kinds of messages from my past self - a reminder that I am still connected to the version of myself that existed in 2018.
Prompt: I often find wisdom in my old notes, my old collages, my old poems. This week, go back through some writing or art you made 5+ years ago and see what messages are hidden for you there, just waiting for you to remember their wisdom.
Before we begin on Saturday, Dec 14th, gather your materials -
This circle is more focused on writing and poetry than visual art, but it’s always good to have a couple mediums to play with I think.
A notebook
Your favorite kind of pens
Other art supplies that you enjoy (colored pencils, paint, charcoal, ??)
Some old magazines to cut up (libraries often have these, as do free groups on Facebook), glue stick, and scissors
Your phone or a camera
