Thanks Abbie, it feels important to keep sharing about these things. We can all feel like everyone else has their sh*t together and so many of us struggle more than it may seem.
Oh, Alix, thank you so much for sharing this vulnerability and this part of your story with us. I'm sorry you have had to go through all this of course, but I am also happy to find another person who knows what it's like. I have been struggling this spring and summer, after being relatively stable and happy for many years, and it's so good and important to be reminded that things change and that they will get better again (in fact, are already getting better).
For what it's worth, I find your words very comforting and grounding as well as beautiful. Both in the essays and reflections you share here, and your poetry, as well as your photography. You are both a treasured companion and a guide, and I'm so happy our paths crossed.
Thank you so much- I loved reading this. I started writing on Substack as a safe space to share my struggles and experiences with my mom’s alcoholism, my father in law passing from lung cancer and an exhausted American. I never know if it will help anyone else, but I found you, and birds of a feather flock together.
Thank you so much for sharing. I was struggling with some of these same things at the same time period and no one really knew how to help. I’m glad you were able to get help and have made big strides towards feeling better and diving into your creativity!
So glad you shared this part of your story. I can relate to the fear and embarrassment that comes with suffering from anxiety & panic attacks. Reading this has nudged me to one day share my own experience. My first panic attack happened when I was 24 in a supermarket of all places and it spiraled so quickly from there. I spent a long time not being able to walk into certain places alone or even riding a subway. The idea of having an attack in public was not something I wanted to go through. It was years before I would get my independence back. Thank you for this post.
Thank you Alex for sharing this very personal story. I do believe we have to listen to our heart and nervous system more as dysregulation can happen so easily in a stressful world.
Alix, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful reminder. As someone who feels a bit like a leper in my life right now, just reading these words brought me peace. This is a good reminder that not all things are permanent.
This is so raw and vulnerable. I applaud you for your bravery and honesty to come out and share your story. I also think that the parts that pull us down are the very thing that boomerang to push us forward. I hope you can see how far you’ve come. And I love that writing helped you unknot and heal. ♥️🌸
Oh, thank you, for this vulnerability and share. I resonate on many levels and understand deeply how creativity can save a life.

You are an inspiration to all of us who wish to express and share our vulnerability through poetry.
Thanks Colleen, that means a lot

Thanks Sarah ❤️ I am so happy our paths have crossed. You truly make me feel less alone in the world.
Same, girl. ❤️
Thank you for this. I love to write, but have a hard time with perfectionism. This was a good reminder that writing can just be for me.

From a fellow healer from panic and trauma who has also found creativity to be a path to everything, this is gorgeous and true.
From one poet to another thank you! This resonates deeply 🤍
Thanks Mo, I’m glad I’m not alone ❤️

Thank you. This made me cry. In a good way. 🙏

You’re so welcome. I’m sorry you understand it so fully, but also, isn’t this why we write? To connect through the hard things ❤️❤️
Absolutely! And that version of me probably wouldn’t believe what I’m doing now :)

I can relate with all of this! I could not create until I got sober because I need to be present when I am writing!
I love every single word you write ❤️
Thanks love ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing, my sweet friend, I am always glad to know more about you. 💜
