Wildness does hold the key but the door when opened reveals death, death as a lover because through death (wild death) life moves and thrives. This is the message of the wolf. Are we humans able to be wild or is our role in the wild to be the conciousness that worships it? Questions I'm pondering, thank you for sharing your writing and so allowing me to think again on this.

Really love this thought and reflection and the phrase “wild death”

Alix, You are a bright, steady burning circle of light on my horizon. I can see you, just out the corner of my right eye. I think, if the weather were fine enough, I could step through to where you are.

Alix, yesterday my grandson and granddaughter came with me for a walk in the forest near our homes. We listened, we observed, we hugged the trees and thanked them. We were sad when we noticed a few of the older trees had lost their bark and were dying. I taught them about the benefits of the first blooms that we saw, Tussilago farfara, Coltsfoot. We need to remember and learn about what was put on earth for us to use, properly, and with reverence.

We so resonate on the same frequency, Alix. “We do not need more hatred for what’s broken, but more tenderness for what’s still whole - and a fierce desire to protect it.” Thank you, Alix, for this beautiful post, and your poems. (My poem, Open Door to Self, feels like we were on the same path that day! I really am starting to believe we are twins! LoL!)

🙏🙏🙏🙏 I’ve been loving the migrating birds filling the trees and our yards.

What kind are they? I’ve been waking up to such a symphony of birdsong this week!

I don’t know! I’m new to birds. We get a lot of robins. And the birds that come in large groups to the lawns are black birds with blue heads.

I saw a tiny grey bird with a blue head and I think a white stripe on its cheek the other day!

In that particular yard the bird that caught my eye was bigger, like almost the size of a pigeon. Grey. With maybe white spots. But much fitter than a city pigeon. lol.

I should really be using the Merlin app but sometimes I like not knowing the names of things.

Alix, enjoyed your post. Robin Wall Kimmerer is such an inspiring writer. My favourite is Gathering Moss. Her combination of the philosophies of her First Nation heritage and science give greater understanding of wildness and inspire me to write.
