I love love love this, especially your first prompt suggestion! Collaging is such an important art form to me. I love to junk journal too, when I can. But I’ve let it fall by the wayside lately, and this post was the perfect reminder of why it’s so important. Thank you for your wisdom!
Beautiful and inspiring as always, Alix. Also, your line about eating a lemon slice covered in sugar brought back a childhood memory for me. My little brother and I started a club called "The Lemon Club" in which we wore yellow and ate lemons covered in sugar. 😂 I think we had too much time on our hands.
Love it. Now I’m remembering an Italian guy who once did an orange slice with sugar one side and coffee grounds on the other. I feel like it’s worth recreations-exploring that experience. At least I remember it being an orange slice and not another citrus. 🤷♀️ 🖤🖤
I can feel the same at this time of year Alix, having spent a lot of time resetting and reflecting, the creative flow that comes can feel almost overwhelming. The most valuable lesson I've learnt is that not everything that comes through is for right NOW. It's ok to say thank you and save it for the right time. It's my saving grace.
So beautiful, thank you, Alix. I saved the post to re-read. Also love the dreamy photos! And I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw your upcoming publication Quietly Wild – I have been asking friends if they know a book like this, and hadn't found one yet. And then somehow, I was led to your post and there it is, the book I have been longing to read (and even somehow matching my Substack name. If this isn't serendipity....).. I just pre-ordered it :)
I definitely feel this same energy this time of year and am also trying to be in my body more.
I'm so excited about Chapbook Summer. I have some poems that I know belong in a chapbook and even though I'm working on a full-length poetry book, things keep popping up for this one.
Ooohhhh a chapbook! I've been wanting to put together Haiku starting from one of Beth Kempton's challenges that I turned into an <almost> 100 day challenge. 😉

Yes, I try to write them down and then trust that they’ll come back up down the road
